Baby Bunnies!

We have a plethora of baby bunnies just in time for Christmas!

harlequinbabybunnyt whitespotbabybunny

Come and help give these guys a forever home!

Please remember that these cute fluffy things are pets. They are members of your family. They can live up to 7+ years and are not a short term commitment. Holidays become a fantastic time for pets finding homes, but shortly after the holidays also become a horrible time where people decide they no longer wish to take on the responsibility of the pet any longer. Think about your decision. A bunny makes a cute pet, but it’s a long term commitment.

Axolotl

Posted in Animal Ark | Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , | Leave a comment

It’s a Tadpole! No! It’s a frog!

Wrong… It’s an Axolotl!

These curious critters are fully aquatic amphibians. They’re also known as Mexican Salamanders. Mistaken often for Mud Dogs or Mud Puppies, they’re not even close. These guys never finish their metamorphosis. They remain in that half changed phase their whole life (naturally occurring in their genetics). Axolotls will max out at about 18″ in length and live for as long as 10 years. They’re carnivorous, eating small fish, worms and invertebrates… or pretty much anything they can fit in their mouths!

When keeping an Axolotl as a pet, sand is recommended, but you can use large rocks, 1″ or larger. If the rocks are small enough for them to swallow then you run the risk of losing your critter to a bad blockage in their digestive system. This means NO AQUARIUM GRAVEL.

Rescues and Adoptions

We try to do as much as we can to help out our local community by rescuing exotics, small animals and kittens. We have our rules like any professional establishment and we try to follow those as strictly as possible. This makes our rescues safe and happy for us and their future Forever Homes.

Kittens are placed on a waiting list once they meet our requirements for rescue. They must be healthy, under 9 weeks, indoors and cannot be strays. We can’t take in stray kittens because it’s impossible to test for everything. We need to guarantee their health before adopting them out to their new homes. When a litter of kittens is dropped off at our door, it completely backs up all of our organized processes and not only hinders our progress in finding homes for these guys, but also ruins the next person on the list’s chances of finding their pets a home.  It’s like someone butting in line at lunch in grade school. No one likes it. It slows down the whole line.

Please try to be courteous of our rules and regulations in the adoption processes. We have them there for the safety of our associates, our customers and our pets.

If you see someone dumping their pets at Animal Ark, notify us with a license plate # and a description of the person(s) responsible if at all possible.

We Have New Fish!

Discus1

We have new fish for our salt and freshwater systems!

Pictured above are our Discus (Symphysodon). Their bright and beautiful colorations make them popular among aquarium hobbyists. These guys are freshwater fish.

Our salt room is slowly coming together. Tanks are almost cycled and we’ve recently placed some fish (damsels, stars, chromis, snails and hermits) in our tanks. One step closer! Come out and see our progress!

High Color Bearded Dragon

BeardieHighColor

We have a new addition to our AA family. This is a male bearded dragon. His bright colors are bred specifically by professional breeders. This guy is in the middle of a shed on his back so his colors aren’t quite as vibrant as they should be, but once he sheds that old skin they pop! He loves climbing onto your head and just sitting there.

He’s about full grown and waiting for his forever home! Come in today to check him out!
